SPREADING CHRISTMAS JOY AT LA SALLE

Over the past few weeks La Salle students have been busy collecting money, wrapping and delivering gifts and spreading Christmas joy to those who have less.

The traditional Adopt-a-Family project had 47 homerooms from the high school buying gifts for families from the San Miguel School, Tides Family Services, McAuley VIllage, the Northern Elementary School and the Veazie Street Elementary School.  In addition, families were adopted by two Alumni groups, the Guidance Department, the Administrative Offices, and even the family of a La Salle student.  In all, gifts were provided for 51 families.  Most gift bags contained $400-500 worth of gifts.  The collection spot--Campus Ministry--looked like Santa's Workplace.  Students delivered the gifts to the sites during their free periods.

In addition the faculty and staff "adopted" 20 families of La Salle students and gave each family a $50 gift card to provide some additional resources for Christmas.

On Thursday evening, 14 December, about 30 members of Lasallian Youth hosted a Christmas party for the women and children of McAuley Village.  The students brought food, goody bags, and Santa himself to the children. Members of the Girls hockey team bought toys for every child which Santa personally delivered.  The evening was full of Christmas cheer!

For La Salle Academy the Christmas season is indeed a season of giving!
