TEACHERS ATTEND LASALLIAN FORMATION PROGRAMS

Over the past few weeks three La Salle Academy faculty members have attended Lasallian Formation Programs sponsored by the Region of North America (RELAN).

David Marinez, Religion teacher, completed the second year of the three year Buttimer Institute for Lasallian Studies.  Each session lasts for two weeks and is held at (Lasallian) Manhattan College in New York City.  David completed the session on Lasallian pedagogy, a thorough study of the writings of Saint John Baptist de La Salle on educational practices, student behavior, and religious education, as well as their application to current educational theory and practice.  During his time there David also shared his musical talent with the group of about 100 Lasallians from around the English-speaking Lasallian World as a leader of music.

At the John Johnston Institute of Contemporary Lasallian Practice, held this Summer at (Lasallian) Lewis University, Romeoville, IL (just outside of Chicago), about 80 Lasallians from around the Region gathered for their second Summer experience of the 2 year program.  Social Studies teacher Beth Cameron and Director of College Counseling Eric Simonelli continued their studies focusing on the Lasallian vocation and association for Mission.

The Mission of La Salle Academy is strengthened by their willingness to sacrifice time during the Summer vacation to deepen their knowledge of and commitment to the Lasallian Mission.
