LSA Students Show Musical Talent At Diabetes Fundraiser

Three bands, “Black & Bruised”, “Ben Long & Lauren King” and “Roslyn”, each made up in part of current and former La Salle students, recently spent an entire day playing their music at a fundraiser for Juvenile diabetes.

This all came about as a result of La Salle Science Department Chair Seth Hajian having been asked by his friends Brad and Jessica Boulris, whose daughter Addison has juvenile diabetes, if his band (yes , Seth is a musician who is in a band) could play at the fundraiser. Seth’s band could not so he approached several La Salle students who he knew were in bands and all of them said yes and all played for free all day!

Jessica’s father is Jeff Reinsant, La Salle Class of 1966.

The La Salle students in the bands are Munib Elkhatib '12, Brady Conley '12, Steve Smith '14, Jeff DiIorio '13, Ben Long '13 and Lauren King '15.

“All of them played their hearts out for a crowd of about 150 at the Elks Club in North Attleboro,” said Seth. “According to the Boulris's, tremendous donations and support came through. Brad, Jessica and nearly everyone at "Addie's Luau" were amazed by the level of talent! Everyone commented on what great kids were in the bands -- how professional, respectful and most of all how generous.”

“Personally, I was quite proud of them. It was obvious that they made an incredible impression,” continued Seth. “I kept hearing all day, ‘All those kids are from La Salle! Wow!’ Even the parents of our musicians stayed and either helped out or made donations to the cause.  It was a fantastic time!”
