George Farley '62 Finishes His PhD

We received a note from George Farley ’62 letting us know that last summer he attended the University of Rhode Island to finish up his doctorate in chemistry.

“Defending the dissertation was all that was needed to finish the program which ran from 1966-1970.  This was done before three chemistry faculty, one from pharmacy and the Dean of the Graduate School on August 9th,” wrote George.  "The work that was defended was one of my three U.S. Patents from the 1970"s dealing with non-chromate industrial cooling water treatment.”

The University of Rhode Island has now awarded George a Bachelor of Science in 1966, a Master of Science in 1971 and his PhD in 2011.

”While I still own Water Management Services Inc, the day to day operation is managed for me.  Retirement in South County, RI is very nice," continued the note.  "The Communion Breakfast in December was spectacular.  Revisiting La Salle after all these years was eye-opening to say the least.  My sincerest congratulations to all which have shepherded this fine school these last 50 years.”
