“We are very pleased that Brother Alvaro had the opportunity to visit La Salle Academy and spend so much time with us,” said La Salle Academy President Brother Michael Mc Kenery.  “This was unique opportunity for our students to meet and hear from the world leader of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in a school-wide assembly.  It is also wonderful that he spent time in small group meetings with a few of those students and some of our faculty.”

In that school-wide assembly, Brother Michael said in part, "It is indeed my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to La Salle Academy this morning and this day as we here at La Salle continue our celebration of our 140 year presence and service to the educational mission of the Church in the Diocese of Providence.

These young men and women sitting before you this day are truly our most special blessing and most certainly the most special blessing in my life on a daily basis.  How do I define them for you- how do I do them justice in a brief few minutes-I think that your time with them during your visit will be a blessing both for them and for you.  They are scholars, they are scientists, they are volunteers with hours and hours of service to others, unlike me many of them are multi lingual, they are artists, they are athletes – they are Lasallians – aware of the world around then – looking to find their place –hoping to make a difference – these young men and women here before you this day – are our mission our purpose – our future as a nation and as future members of the greater world community - remembering always that all we do and say is done in the holy presence of God."
