Pastor Chantee’ Taylor Roberts ’88 was back in Rhode Island recently for a revival and while in the state she paid a visit to La Salle with her father, Ralph Taylor, to see her former school and visit a few people.
“La Salle was a very special place for me,” said Chantee’ who attended Perry Middle School in Providence before coming to La Salle. “Among the faculty and staff, I fondly remember Brother Jerome and I always loved Brother Fred – he liked my singing. I also remember Bob Lisi and Ms. Lachetti (now Ms. Romani) whom I had for French and I remember Ms. Starkey.”
After graduating from La Salle, Chantee’ attended Providence Community College (now CCRI) and ultimately earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The 1988 La Salle yearbook says of Chantee’: “Chant”, Basketball, Volleyball, Drama, Chorus, Class Officer, “Put God first and I guarantee you he will help you obtain your goals” . . . an apt description of the now Floridian non-denominational minister.
“La Salle truly prepared me for the ministry,” she said. “I learned all the dos and don’ts
at La Salle. It is a place where you learn to blend in and accept everyone. I became close friends with Kim Adelderman. I was a pretty good student – mostly Bs.”
Mr. Taylor, whose son Leon attended La Salle after Chantee’, said that this was his first visit to the school. “I am very proud Chantee’ as I am of all of my five children and my 13 grandchildren.”
