La Salle Freshman A People to People Student Ambassador
La Salle Academy freshman Derek Belliard has been accepted as a People to People Student Ambassador for the Class of 2011 of People to People International.
As a student ambassador Derek will join others in the organization’s continuing purpose of bringing he world together through education and friendship while experiencing a journey of discovery.
“It is very exciting to be accepted as a student ambassador,” said Derek. “The opportunity to travel to other parts of the world and make friends with people from different cultures is why I was interested in People to People.”

Derek was notified of his acceptance into the program in a letter from Mary Jean Eisenhower, a grand-daughter of former President Dwight Eisenhower. Ms Eisenhower wrote: “By venturing beyond your local borders, you will represent the very best of your home to the rest of the world. You will gain insight into new cultures, forge lasting friendships with global counterparts and help promote peace and human dignity.”
La Salle Academy is a high school rich in history and grounded in the person and teachings of Jesus and the Catholic faith, which are core to the school's life and culture.
