La Salle Graduate Named National Security Advisor

According to a story in the Providence Journal by John E. Mulligan of the
Journal Washington Bureau, President Obama has named Providence native Thomas E. Donilon to be his national security adviser, replacing the departing James L. Jones.

The Journal story reads “After paying tribute to Jones, a retired Marine general who helped him chart a new strategy for the war in Afghanistan, Mr. Obama praised Donilon, saying there is ‘not a single critical national issue that has not crossed Tom's desk’ during his service as Jones's deputy.

Mr. Obama said Donilon, a 1973 graduate of La Salle Academy and also a graduate of Catholic University of America, has "a probing intellect and a remarkable work ethic."

“Obviously, we are very proud that a La Salle Academy graduate has been chosen by President Obama to be his National Security Advisor,’ said La Salle Principal Donald Kavanagh in commenting on the appointment.
