Getting to La Salle

Located in Rhode Island's capital city of Providence, La Salle Academy is a truly regional school community. Our students come from every city and town in Rhode Island, as well as communities throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Connecticut. More than 10% of our student body travels to La Salle each day from southeastern Massachusetts.

We know that getting to school is an important part of choosing the right school for your family. La Salle offers a variety of transportation options designed to make our Providence campus accessible to students across the region.

  • Public Busing From Participating RI Cities and Towns

    Free, statewide transportation through the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) is available to eligible La Salle Academy students residing in:

    Barrington, Bristol, Central Falls, Cranston, East Providence, Johnston, Lincoln, North Providence, Pawtucket, Smithfield and Warren

  • Transportation for Providence Residents

    Students who reside in Providence must be registered with the Providence Public School District to qualify for transportation assistance.

    High School Students
    La Salle Academy high school students who live one mile or more from school are eligible to receive a monthly RIPTA bus pass.

    Middle School Students
    De La Salle Middle School students who live 1.5 miles or more from school are eligible for transportation on a yellow school bus and will be assigned an appropriate bus stop.

  • Private Busing

    Rhode Island Communities
    Northstar Bus Co., a private transportation company, provides service for La Salle Academy students from the following Rhode Island communities:

    Cumberland, East Greenwich, Jamestown, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, Portsmouth, Tiverton, Wakefield and Warwick

    Massachusetts Communities
    Northstar Bus Co. also provides transportation for La Salle Academy students from select communities in southeastern Massachusetts, including areas near Attleboro and Swansea

    Registration for Private Busing is conducted through the La Salle Academy Business Office.

    PAYMENT PLAN

    The cost for Bus #1, #2, #3, and #4 is $2,925 per year for one rider or $4,750 per family (2+ riders) and is roundtrip only.
    The cost for Bus #5 is $1,530 per year for one rider or $2,475 per family (2+ riders) and is one way only .
    Payment will be added to you FACTS account (tuition payment portal) and billed directly based on the option selected.

    Families who set-up a single installment payment plan receive a $125.00 discount for the Round Trip option and $75.00 discount for the One Way option.


  • Carpooling

    La Salle Academy works with families interested in joining a carpool or offering transportation to other students.

    While La Salle cannot guarantee a carpool match, we will make every effort to connect families who live in the same community or surrounding area.  Any final carpool arrangements are coordinated directly between participating families.

La Salle Academy is a high school rich in history and grounded in the person and teachings of Jesus and the Catholic faith, which are core to the school's life and culture. The De La Salle Middle School provides a strong holistic foundation for students to transition into high school. The high school and middle school provide students of diverse ethnic, economic, and religious backgrounds, a community to foster growth in the tradition of St. John Baptist de La Salle’s ideals of faith, service, and community.
