Applications and Admissions Folder

List of 8 frequently asked questions.

  • Do I have to take the High School Placement Exam?

The Placement Exam is not required, but strongly recommended for two reasons:
    • Taking the exam at La Salle Academy is the only way for incoming 9th grade applicants to qualify for merit scholarships. While the exam is also offered at other Catholic schools, only scores from the exam taken at La Salle are considered for scholarship eligibility.
    • The test helps us place students appropriately to be successful.
Transfer applicants (grades 10–12) do not take the exam, but must submit scores from other reputable standardized tests as part of the admissions review.
  • What documents and records are needed to apply to La Salle Academy?

  • How do I start applying to La Salle Academy?

Click the Apply Today button or any apply button on the La Salle website.  You will be prompted to complete an application.  Be sure to have the correct information selected for your child (current grade, current school, enrolling year, etc)

Once the application is complete, please allow us up to two business days to process your application.  Once you application is processed by our office you will be notified through the Blackbaud system that a "Checklist" has been assigned to your child.

The Checklist represent all the items needed to be submitted to enter into the review phase of the admissions process.

While our office will request documents directly from schools in January, your help in uploading documents and files you have access to is a great help to ensuring your child is part of the initial review of candidates and is in the pool of candidates to receive first decisions.
  • Does La Salle support students with learning difference?

Yes. La Salle Academy supports a diverse range of learners. Students with diagnosed learning differences may be eligible for our Explorers Program, which offers additional academic support and personalized strategies for success. There is an additional fee for participation in the Explorers Program; however, financial aid applies to base tuition and may help offset the overall cost.

It is essential that accommodation plans and evaluations are openly shared with the admissions team to communicate with our counseling office and prepare the correct resources for each student.  Having up-to-date (within three years) is necessary for students to receive appropriate accommodations in our classrooms.
  • What is the general timeline for applying to La Salle and receiving a decision?

For 9th grade applicants, we encourage submitting you application before Dec 31 to be part of the first round of decisions.

Only applicants with completed Checklists (all records uploaded successfully) by Jan 15th are guaranteed a decision on January 30th, the first day of acceptances.

After Jan 30th we will continue to review folders as efficiently as possible and extend acceptance as they are reviewed.
  • How do I know if I have submitted everything I need for my Admissions Folder?

Log on to your Blackbaud account (where you first made your application).  You should have received an email from "myschoolapp" with information about logging in.

Your child has a "Checklist" of items that need to be submitted for review.  If you have a green check mark, you have successfully submitted this item.  If you see an empty circle, this item is still needed.

Click the button to remove all completed item in the upper right corner of your checklist.  If you have no items left, you have completed your checklist.

Items listed as Completed or Waived have been successfully received and require no further action. Items marked Awaiting or Started still need to be submitted for your child’s application to be ready for First Round Decisions in January.

Families may request missing documents directly from their child’s school and upload them through the admissions portal. Our office will begin requesting outstanding records in January; however, completing these items sooner will ensure timely review.
  • How do I submit recommendations?

We do not require formal, written letters of recommendation for our review.  However, they can be sent to our office and added to a students file if desired.

We do require a Teacher Recommendation and a Counselor/Administrator Recommendation Form to be completed.  This form is sent directly to the educator through the Blackbaud system.  On your check list please select the recommendation item and provide the teachers name and email address and the system will send the form directly to them.

Please check that you have submitted the Recommendation Request by entering the correct educator’s email in your Blackbaud portal. If your status displays Requested, it means the request was sent but the form has not yet been completed by the educator.

Many educators will be completing these items over break, please be patient with them as they are filling out many recommendations for multiple students.
  • How do I combine multiple digital files into one file where needed?

Blackbaud only allows one file upload per item on the Checklist.  In some cases you will need to combine PDFs into one document to include all the needed information.  This is especially true for Standardized Testing results or report cards with multiple pages.

Follow the instructions provided in this link for easy solutions to combining documents into one file.
