This summer marked the 4th successful production of the La Salle Academy Alumni Theatre Collaborative (ATC). The ATC was created in 2006 to allow
Though the first three years’ productions featured only recent alumni, 2009’s Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) by Anne-Marie MacDonald included a cast of LaSallians from the class of 1969 through 2009. The ATC began as a suggestion from Brother Michael to Daniel Procaccini ’04 upon graduation. Two years later, members of the classes 2004, 2005, and 2006 came together to produce An Evening of One-Acts featuring Variations on the Death of Trotsky and Soap Opera by David Ives, Krapp’s Last Tape by Samuel Beckett, and Andre’s Mother by Terrence McNally. 2007 brought Neil Simon’s Rumors to the stage, followed by a post-show cabaret organized by Alyssa Schlageter ‘05. Playwright A.R. Gurney’s works took center stage in 2008 with Classroom Comedies: The Love Course and The Old One-Two.
Directors over the four years have included Chris DeLuca ’04, Loretta M. Cimini ’04, Tom Paquin ’05, and Emily Scanlan ’06. Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) brought new alums into the ranks as well as featuring the return of several veterans of ATC productions from the beginning-Sarah Carr ’05, Scarlett Delgado ’05, and Elise Petrarca ’05. It also included the return of Dan Lawlor ’04, for his second ATC show, and the assistance of Eric DelGizzo ’06 who appeared in Rumors.
Though the ATC has seen ups and downs over its 4-year run, this summer’s most recent production was boosted by the support of the Alumni Association, as well as the ongoing support of Brother Michael, Tom Haynes ’82, and Elissa Pensa Cerros. The Alumni Association brought many of the new ATC performers into the fold, including Vin DiMonte ’69, Ed O’Donnell ’74, and Joe Graziano ’03, also of the alumni office.
Privious plays by the Collaborative are: 2007 - Rumors by Neil Simon; 2006 - Variations of the Death of Trotsky by Daivd Ives, Krapp's Last Tape by Samuel Beckett, Mandre's Mother by Terrence McNally and Soap Opera by David Ives.
Many are already excited for next year’s production, with prospects for new directors, actors, and backstage hands. The ATC will hold its initial planning meeting in either late December or early January. Stay tuned for further details, or e-mail us at LaSalleATC@gmail.com
