La Salle French Teacher Kendra McVay and her students celebrated “National French Week” during late November.  The activities included a Spy Day during which any French class student “caught” speaking French by a “spy” at any time during the day was awarded with a ticket that could be redeemed for a prize at the end of the day.

“The week was filled with interesting and fun things to do,” said Ms. McVay.  “Monday was Game Day when we played French Scrabble and French Monopoly and a few other board games.  Tuesday we watched a French-language movie after class and the cafeteria chef prepared French-themed meals.”

The rest of the week included a breakfast meeting at the La Salle Bakery, Spy Day and a French Poetry Reading Day.

“The spy day was special as a number of people were recruited to be spies including teachers, academic staff, other students and the lunch lady,” continued Ms. McVay.  “At the end of the school day Thursday, the kids who had been awarded tickets for speaking French during the day came to our classroom and got to pick small prizes.”
