GIRLS BASKETBALL REPEATS AS STATE CHAMPIONS

Back in late November, Coach Sean Reddy and his Girls Basketball team started practice with the hopes of having another good season, despite the graduation of so many players from last year's championship team. On Sunday at the Ryan Center, the team completed that mission and then some as they captured the 2017 RIIL Credit Union Girls Basketball State Championship. The team defeated Barrington High School 41 to 33 to win the title.

The Eagles had defeated the Lady Rams twice earleir in the year by three points each time. The third time was the charm for La Salle as they received big contributions up and down the roster. Senior Captains Allyson Desrosiers and River Glenn led the way as only Seniors can. Junior Christina Kiser duplicated her performance from last year's final with another big game. Sophomore Jayme DeCesare earned the MVP trophy for her tenacious defense and superb ball-handling. Sophomore Bryanna Rawnsley made the All-Tournament team with 8 points in the final and outstanding defense throughout the two games on the weekend. Junior Caroline Wilson, Sophomores Kyra Mattera and Lauren Ferreira, and Freshman Ella Fiore all stepped up big in Coach Reddy's high octane game plan. As he always does, Coach Reddy shuttled the players in and out to make sure they were fresh and that they were intense.

The championship was the 12th in school history, with the last 10 coming under Coach Reddy's tutelage.
