1982 Graduate Becomes Superior Court Judge

As covered in The Providence Journal, La Salle Academy graduate and Assistant U.S. Attorney Luis M. Matos ’82 has been sworn in as the newest judge of the Rhode Island Superior Court.

Judge Matos was a member of the team of federal prosecutors on the Operation Dollar Bill investigation that looked into the connection of some Rhode Island legislators and health-care companies.

Matos came to the U.S. with his family as a five-year-old in 1969.  Following his graduation from La Salle he entered Brown University and after graduating he entered the University of Connecticut  School of Law from which he received his law degree with honors.

At La Salle, among other things, he was a four-year letterman on the football team, a member of the National Honor Society, Holy Cross Book Award recipient, Math Team member  and Social Concerns Committee member.
Matos was also the subject of a lengthy Providence Journal column by Edward Fitzpatrick.
