Sophia Hopkins chalks up a first [place win]... in art contest

"Warwick artist Sophia Hopkins place[s] first in the annual Chalk the Block contest sponsored by the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce.

The event was held on July 15, and featured artists aged 7 and older.

Contestants entered the competition for $25, and received a t-shirt and a set of chalk, although Hopkins admits that she brought her own. Artists were given three hours to create their illustrations.

Awards were given to artists who placed first and second in age categories ranging from 7 years old to 16 and over. There was also a family category, in which family members could team up to create a chalk masterpiece."
