Dear Friends:

Welcome to La Salle Academy! For almost 150 years, La Salle has been providing an exceptional Catholic, college preparatory education in the Lasallian tradition for young people from Rhode Island, as well as nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut. In recent years we have also welcomed international students to our campus.

We are blessed as an educational and faith community to be part of a long and storied Lasallian tradition. Our roots extend back over 330 years to 17th century France. Today, we are part of a vibrant global network of educational ministries with more than 1,000 schools in 80 countries serving over a million young people.

For Saint John Baptist de La Salle, our Founder and the Patron Saint of Teachers, what was then, and continues now to be essential is providing a “human and a Christian education to young people” with a particular concern for those who are disadvantaged.

At the heart of our educational community are our students and the words of John’s Gospel “that they may have life and have it in abundance”. That they come to know and to grow fully into the men and women that God created them to be intellectually, religiously, physically, artistically, ethically, and socially.

Our daily activities are grounded in the person and teachings of Jesus and the Catholic faith which are core to the life and culture of this school. All of us at La Salle are called to play a special part in God’s providential plan for young people. We are called to exercise our educational ministry with “faith and zeal”, and to model a vision of life that makes Jesus alive and present.

All of this happens on our 29-acre campus, located in the center of Providence’s Elmhurst neighborhood, that boasts state-of-the-art classrooms and science labs. Recently renovated facilities, such as the John P. Cronin Fields and Louis Cimini Stadium have been added to other campus highlights such as the McLaughlin Athletic Center, the Shea Science and Student Center, the Brother Michael McKenery Arts Center, the Gallogly Family Auditorium and Alumni Conference facilities. All are examples of the best possible facilities for our students and alumni.

We are pleased to offer the same excellence in education to students in grades 6-8, preparing them for the challenges of high school. The expansion of our La Salle Academy family to include the De La Salle Middle School was a natural extension of the opportunities given to our students in grades 9-12.

Today, as in the past, we continue to respond to our students through advancements in teaching, technology and scholarship. In Lasallian educational communities, educators touch hearts, stimulate minds and cultivate leadership to prepare students for life, work, and service to society and the church.

Live Jesus in our Hearts. Forever!
