About Us

President's Welcome

Dear Friends,

Welcome to La Salle Academy.

Since our founding in 1871, La Salle has provided an exceptional Catholic college preparatory education to young people from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. In recent years, we've extended our arms to welcome international students to campus as well.

Our community is part of a long and storied Lasallian tradition, with roots tracing 330 years to 17th century France. Today, we're blessed to be part of a vibrant global network of educational ministries consisting of 1,000 schools in 80 countries that serve more than a million young people.

The work and teachings of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, our founder and the Patron Saint of Teachers, are essential to our mission. We believe it's our moral imperative to provide young people with a Christian education, particularly those from underserved communities. The heart of our mission is using knowledge, values, and faith to help our students become the men and women God created them to be.

Our daily activities are grounded in the person and teachings of Jesus and the Catholic faith, which are core to the school's life and culture. God calls on La Salle's faculty and staff to play a part in His providential plan for our students, exercise our ministry with faith and zeal, and model a life showing that Jesus is alive and present.

La Salle Academy's beautiful 29-acre campus, located at the heart of Providence's historic Elmhurst neighborhood, offers state-of-the-art classrooms and science labs, as well as the recently renovated John P. Cronin Field and Louis Cimini Stadium. Our campus is home to facilities that are second to none, including the McLaughlin Athletic Center, Shea Science and Student Center, Brother Michael McKenery Arts Center, Gallogly Family Auditorium, and the Alumni Conference Center.

We also offer the same high-quality academic opportunities found in the high school to De La Salle Middle School students; adding grades 6 through 8 to the La Salle family was a natural extension of our mission.

Today, as in the past, we serve our students with advancements in teaching, technology, and scholarships. Our teachers touch hearts, stimulate minds, and prepare students for life, work, and service to society and church.

We invite you to explore our website to learn why La Salle Academy is the right choice for your son or daughter. Please, let us know if you have any questions.

Live Jesus in our Hearts. Forever!

Brother Dennis Malloy, FSC
