REDDING STARS AS LADY RAMS TAKE THIRD PLACE IN STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Madalyn Redding took home two gold medals to lead the La Salle Girls Swimming team to a third place finish in the 2017 Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Girls Swimming State Championships Saturday at Brown University. Redding won the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle races.

The Lady Rams finished with 221 points. Barrington High School took the title with 331 points, while North Kingstown High School finished second with 226 points.

Redding took the first individual title of the meet with her 1:52.19 time in the 200 freestyle. She came back to win the 100 in 52.06.

Samantha Karlson added a fifth place finish in the 100 frrestyle to go with Redding's win to give La Salle a good chunk of points in that event. Ava Andrews took a sixth place finish in the 100 butterfly, and then followed that up with an eighth place in the 100 backstroke. Annabelle Redding took a seventh in the 500 freestyle, while Francesca Viera took an eighth place in the 100 breaststroke.

In the relays, La Salle finished with a fourth in the 200 medley relay, third in the 200 freestyle relay, and sixth in the 400 freestyle relay.
