It's with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mr. Walter McLaughlin, a proud member of La Salle’s Class of 1957. Mr. McLaughlin's commitment to La Salle's mission has been instrumental in carrying on the work of St. John Baptist de La Salle.

Walter's immeasurable impact on the La Salle community, especially our students, will continue through the McLaughlin Athletic Center, of which he was very proud. Our president, Brother Dennis Malloy, FSC, says, "Walter McLaughlin truly epitomizes the three pillars of the Lasallian charism: faith, community, and service. While his passing marks the end of an era, his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of Lasallians for generations to come."

During this difficult time, we pray for Walter's wife, Wanda, as well as his family, friends, and the students and alumni who've had their lives changed by Mr. McLaughlin throughout the years. Our community mourns the loss of a dear friend, mentor, and fellow Lasallian. Walter’s love for La Salle was always evident, as was La Salle’s love for him.
