High School Placement Exam

When you take the Placement Exam at La Salle you open opportunities for merit based scholarship!

The High School Placement Exam is an important piece in the Admissions process for La Salle Academy.  Upon acceptance, these test results assist with determining the class level into which students will be placed and the course schedule they will receive.

To best prepare, come well rested, calm and confident.  The test is designed to show us what you've learned and what kind of learner you are.  La Salle is prepared to teach students at different places in the educational journey.  
  • What should you bring
    • Please bring a #2 pencil
    • You may bring a bottle of water to the exam, but no other food or drink is permitted.
    • Calculators are not permitted during the exam.  You will not need it on any section.  
  • Review the exam breakdown.  It may seem long...but you can do it!
    • Students will begin with a short written prompt.  
      • The prompt is a personal reflection and requires no specific academic knowledge. (15 minutes)
    • 18 minute - Verbal Section (Vocabulary)
    • 30 minute - Quantitative (Basic Math Applications)
    • 25 minute - Reading Section
    • A short break
    • 45 minute - Math Section 
    • 25 minute - Language Section (Grammar/Punctuation)
Parent Information
  • Please arrive between 7:30 and 7:55AM.  Be prompt so that we can begin the exam on time.
  • Parents/guardians are asked to enter the campus from the Smith Street Gates. 
  • Parents/guardians should stay in their cars and drop the student off at the front entrance to the Athletic Center.  
  • For your convenience we will have our cafeteria open as a welcome center for parents/guardians who would like to stay on campus until the end of the exam.  
  • We will provide a guest Wi-Fi Password so that you can use the space for work of relaxation while the exam is being administered.  
  • Students will be in testing from 8-11:30AM. 
  • Parents/guardians should return to campus before 11:30AM.  
  • You may park in the upper lot around the Athletic Center or in the large parking lot.
  • Please remain in your car and your students will be released at the end of the exam.
  • Students whose parents/guardians elect to stay in the cafeteria for the exam will be brought to the cafeteria to be received by their parent/guardian.
  • Having contact by cell phone following the end of the exam is the best way for your student to find you.
