To receive an application and a list of Admission Events and due dates, you may submit an Inquiry Form, phone the Admission Office at (401) 351-7750 ext. 122, or visit us during school hours. Our admission package is also available from the Admission office during school hours.

Application

La Salle Academy seeks to enroll young men and women who want to be educated in a Catholic, college preparatory secondary school. We are looking for qualified, enthusiastic, and creative students who are committed to their education and excited about being a part of our La Salle community. We use the following to assess a student’s qualification for acceptance:

Standardized Testing (HSPT)
Completed Application/Entrance Exam Form
Transcript and Teacher Recommendation

Applications should be submitted during the fall of the year preceding actual enrollment. Prospective transfer students’ applications are reviewed in March. Completed applications and the $50 application fee may be mailed to: La Salle Academy Admission Office 612 Academy Ave Providence, RI 02908

For applications received in the Admission Office by the MONDAY before Thanksgiving, letters confirming receipt of applications will be mailed to the applicants' homes the week of the exam.

Please note that the application form serves also as the registration form for the Entrance Exam.

School Transcripts and Teacher Recommendations

The Admission Office will request transcripts and teacher recommendations from your current school after the entrance exam date. A parental release for this purpose is included on the application. Additional letters of recommendation are not required but are accepted.

Placement Examination

MAKE UP EXAM - Walk-ins Accepted

Students applying to the 9^th and 10^th grades are required to take the High School Placement Test, or HSPT www.ivywest.com/hsptinfo.htm. In addition, prospective students will be required to write an essay at the time of the exam. Applicants whose first choice of secondary school is La Salle Academy are strongly encouraged to take the placement exam at La Salle Academy.

Please note that the application form serves also as the registration form for the Placement Exam.

Students applying for 11^th grade are required to submit their most recent academic transcripts and standardized test scores. La Salle Academy does not accept transfer students for the 12^th grade.

All testers must report for the exam Saturday, December 1 by 8:00 a.m at La Salle Academy. The exam ends at approximately noon.

- Use the Academy Avenue entrance next to the Chapel
- Bring two No. 2 pencils
- No calculators are allowed
- You may bring a bottle of water only

Notification

January 31
Prospective students who complete all required materials by January 15^th will be among those considered for the first pool of applicants, and will be notified of committee decisions by January 31. After that date, admission is conducted on a space-available basis.

Prospective transfer students' applications will be reviewed in March.

A decision reply and tuition deposit are required by the last Friday in February (or a date to be announced). Tuition deposits are non-refundable.

AT A RHODE ISLAND CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

The nine Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Providence are collaborating to make the application process less confusing for prospective ninth graders and their parents. We urge you to visit as many of the high schools as appropriate while you are making decisions regarding the high school years. Here are some questions and answers that might help you as you begin to apply.

Where should I take the entrance exam?

Take the entrance exam at your first choice school.
The same exam is used at all Rhode Island Catholic High Schools.

Why should I take the exam at my first choice school?

In order to be sure that your first choice school will receive all the necessary information.
Some schools offer academic scholarships to their first choice candidates.

If I choose to have my entrance exam results sent to more than one school, have I automatically applied to each of those schools?

No, each school will require a separate application. You must contact the Admissions Office at any school where you wish to apply in order to be considered for admission.

How much is the application fee?

The application fee is $50 at each school where you wish to apply.

When will I get a response from my application?

You will hear from school where you have completed the application process by the first week in February.

How do I apply for financial aid?

Check with each school for specific financial aid procedures and deadlines.

Entrance exams are administered at each high school on the first Saturday in December. Check with each school for additional dates.
