Close behind Mallory was her friend and fellow junior Katharine Agliata who was prepared to become the initial 16-year-old donor if Mallory’s early morning sample did not meet the requirements.

By the end of the day, 82 individuals had donated blood making it the most successful blodd drive ever at La Salle.  Several La Salle teachers, staff and some parents also participated in the drive which was covered by all the Rhode Island news media including The Rhode Island Catholic editor Rick Snizek.

According to the Rhode Island Blood Center, every pint of blood gives hope to four people.
