LA SALLE RETAINS WALSH TROPHY

The La Salle Academy Boys' Hockey Team held the trophy through a tie with Bishop Hendricken.

On Friday evening, 6 January, the Rams of La Salle Academy and the Hawks of Bishop Hendricken High School played to a 2-2 game (OT) in the 3rd annual Edward Walsh Jr. Memorial Hockey Game.  Because La Salle had possession of the trophy from last year's victory, the team was awarded the trophy until next year's contest.  In the hard fought and exciting battle before a sold-out Thayer Arena, La Salle came back from a 2-0 deficit with a goal from Junior Ryan Schwender and a goal in the waning seconds of regulation time by Senior Captain Drew Edwards.

At the conclusion of the game with both teams on the ice and the captains called to the scorer's booth, Cameron Walsh (LSA Class of 2013 and hockey player) gave a fitting tribute to his father who had been an Assistant Coach at LSA before his tragic and untimely death.  Tyler Walsh (LSA Class of 2015 and hockey player) announced the winner of the trophy.  They were joined on the ice by their younger brother Eddie Walsh III.
