La Salle Arts Overview

With the Arts at La Salle, our goal is to continue to offer an inclusive community for students to express themselves in a healthy, positive, and artistic way.

We provide opportunities for expression through multiple artistic areas, and we aim to equip students with the 21st century skills of collaboration, creativity, communication, and expression. We strive to foster a sense of respect for all persons that starts with us as educators modeling this behavior with our students and each other. Students are beginning to decide who they are and define their identity within their communities; all skills that we as Lasallian artists and educators can encourage them to explore.
La Salle Academy offers students a unique and demanding secondary school performing arts experience that both empowers students and helps build confidence and skills of self-expression through participation in the arts. La Salle's performing arts activities include the La Salle Players (theatre company which produces four mainstage shows per year along with one middle school performance), the La Salle Academy Dance Company, La Salle Concert Choir, Boys and Girls A Cappella, and Voices Inc. (a performance poetry group). "Christmas at La Salle" is our annual Christmas Concert, and we mirror that with our end of the year performance, the "Spring Collage Concert", again showcasing the Music, Theatre, and Dance areas.

In addition to the performing arts programming, La Salle Arts opportunities offer something for every type of artist. For example, the Film Society hosts special topics symposiums throughout the year. (Past topics have included Race and Film, Women in the Media, Celluloid Politics, and  The Suburbs, from Sitcoms to The Simpsons.) There is also a group of budding sports broadcasters who run an online broadcast network. Students can participate in the WLSA bi-weekly morning news show either as an elective or as an extracurricular activity. For those who prefer to be behind the camera, the Photography Club introduces students to traditional wet darkroom processes, as well as editing processes for digital photography. Members are able to share and discuss their work and are encouraged to enter high school photography competitions.

La Salle Academy is a high school rich in history and grounded in the person and teachings of Jesus and the Catholic faith, which are core to the school's life and culture. The De La Salle Middle School provides a strong holistic foundation for students to transition into high school. The high school and middle school provide students of diverse ethnic, economic, and religious backgrounds, a community to foster growth in the tradition of St. John Baptist de La Salle’s ideals of faith, service, and community.
