LA SALLE GARNERS STATE MOCK TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Mock Trial Team wins the RI State Championship for the 3rd straight year.


La Salle Academy's Mock Trial team has won the RI State Championship for the third consecutive year! La Salle defeated Mount St. Charles in a trial on Thursday, March 31  The final trial, the culmination of a tournament that began last November, took place in the RI Supreme Court chamber in the Licht Judicial Complex. The Hon. Supreme Court Justice William Robinson presided, and the jury consisted of 13 RI lawyers and judges.
 
Previously La Salle's team defeated East Greenwich in a semi-final trial, Providence Country Day in quarterfinals, and Wheeler School in the first round of playoffs. Competing in the playoff trials were: Seniors Emma Parisi, Anna Munslow, Bailey Greenberg, and Thadeus Chrupcala; Junior Sean Miller; Sophomores Lauren Campbell, Jacob Cordeiro, and Jonathan Izzard; and Freshmen Victoria Hennemann and Anne Rogers. Ms. Jane Murphy is the Mock Trial Coach.
 
This year's case was a criminal case of hazing and murder over a death of a college fraternity pledge. In the final trial, La Salle argued for the Prosecution.
 
The team will now prepare a new case to compete in the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Boise, Idaho, May 12-15.
