GIRLS TENNIS PREPARES FOR PLAYOFFS WITH 7-0 WIN OVER SMITHFIELD

Coach Tom Martin's Girls Tennis team finished up their regular season with a 7-0 whitewashing of Smithfield High School Thursday. The Lady Rams finished their season with a 12-1 record and now get ready for the RIIL State Championsip playoffs next week.

All-Staters Lauren Bertsch and Natalie Pitocco set the tone with identical 6-0, 6-1 victories. Jenna Lisi took the number 3 singles match with a 6-3, 6-2 win, while Viansa Portesi took number 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

In doubles, the number 1 team of Haley Pollock and Allison Paul won a thrilling three set, tie-breaker match 5-7, 6-0, 7-6 (8-6). Sofia Michalowski and Lindsay Brazenor took number 2 doubles 6-2, 6-1. Sierra Musumeci and Isabel Brown won at number 3 with a 6-2, 6-4 score.

The Lady Rams, finalists in the last four RIIL State Championships, begin their playoff run next week.
