Elissa Pensa Cerros--Distinguished Lasallian Educator

La Salle teacher receives DENA recognition.

On Tuesday, 29 September, Maryann Donohue-Lynch, Associate Director of the Mission and Ministry Office of the District of Eastern North America (DENA), announced that Elissa Pensa Cerros had been selected as one of three Distinguished Lasallian Educators for the District.

Ms. Cerros had been nominated by the administration and Lasallian Ministry Team of La Salle Academy as its school Distinguished Lasallian Educator for the academic year 2015-2016. At a recent meeting of the DENA Mission Council Ms. Cerros was chosen to represent the District at the Awards Ceremony during the Huether Lasallian Conference to be held in Chicago in mid-November. The theme of the Conference is: Lasallian Educational Community—Hands and Hearts Associated for Mission.

Ms. Cerros is a member of the Arts Department, Technical Director for the theater program (La Salle Players), and Director of the Arts Alive! and Summer Theater Program at La Salle. The announcement of her award was made at the start of one of her classes so that her students could share in the proud moment.

The school community will celebrate her selection as the La Salle Academy and District Distinguished Lasallian Educator in late January during Catholic School and Founder’s Week.
