The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, has named Anthony Francis of La Salle Academy as its 2012-2013 Gatorade Rhode Island Football Player of the Year. Francis is the sixth Gatorade Rhode Island Football Player of the Year to be chosen from La Salle Academy. Francis's teammate, Josh Morris, was the 2011-2012 recipient. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Francis as Rhode Island's best high school football player.

The La Salle Football team traveled to Pawtucket Friday night to take on Tolman High School in a RIIL Division I contest. The Rams made the happy trip back to Providence with a 42-20 win. Seniors Anthony Francis and Joshua Morris led the way. Francis threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for a touchdown, and Morris rushed for 180 yards and scored two touchdowns.
